Join us on this chilly winter day for a Build a Beanie workshop for beginners.
Are you ready to graduate from granny squares to wearables?
Then this is the workshop for you. A beanie is a great first project when you are ready to start making clothing.
Why?
- it gives you some experience at making to measure and testing your work in progress,
- it’s a quick and easy make so you’ll be finished before you know it,
- it’s ultimately customisable so you’ll have a truly one of a kind piece of clothing,
- your friends and family will be shocked and amazed at how clever and creative you are!
Including EVERYTHING you need to crochet a squishy winter beanie or pussy hat, at the end of this session you will be confident in making hats for anyone and everyone. You’ll get a size chart from infant to large adult. We’ll teach you how to measure your head to determine beanie size, calculate your starting chain, account for a brim or no brim and whip up a noggin cover with the greatest of ease. There will be a choice of yarn colour and pom pom, and we’ll show you what to do when you fall in love with a different type of yarn and want to make another one.
You will also get morning tea! With biscuits!
You may not finish crocheting on the day, but you will know what to do when you are ready to sew up. And you can stay as long as you like or come back for help on another day if you get stuck. We don’t think you will, though – you’re going to get really good at this.
We’ll start the morning at Little Shop For Yarners where you can browse the shop and get to know us. Then we’ll wander down the street to The Makers Corner where there is a bit more room to make our beanies.
The important stuff:
- When: Saturday 8 July, 10am – 1.30pm
- Where: Little Shop for Yarners, 5a Chapple Lane Gympie. Parking at The Makers Corner, cnr Berrie St & Chapple Lane Gympie
- Craft: Crochet
- Skill level: Confident beginner. You must know how to hold your yarn and hook, make a chain and crochet a stitch. It can be any stitch at all, as long as you know what to do. No fancy stitches are needed for this pattern.
- Age level: 15 and over
- Cost: $45 all inclusive
We will workshop until 1.30pm at which point you can choose to go home and finish or stay and finish. Follow up tutorial will be available if you need it.
